Case Study:LDC (Blog)

LDC is the leading UK regional mid-market private equity house and part of the Lloyds Banking Group. Their investments cover a broad range of sectors including financial services, healthcare, industrials, IT & software, leisure & media, retail & consumer, and support services.

Having developed LDC's corporate website, www.ldc.co.uk, we were pleased to be appointed as the agency responsible for delivering their corporate blog which was to be launched with a focus on covering their largest charity event to date, the Tour De LDC.

In true LDC style the event was to be ambitious: a cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats visiting 9 of their UK offices on the way, making the total cycled more than 1100 miles, completed in just 15 days.

LDC came to us with a brief to provide a hub for all communication relating to the tour, to raise awareness of the event and provide a springboard for charitable donations. The blog was to have 3 distinct phases: pre-event, mid-event and post event, with content changing regularly, particularly during the event when we would need to allow multiple contributors to add posts, tweets and images whilst on the road (literally!).

The final solution was developed using Wordpress as the content management system with a bespoke design applied that reflected the LDC brand but also gave the tour its own identity. The blog integrated RSS, Twitter and Flickr feeds, and dynamic content from partner charity site Just Giving.

The feedback from those taking part in the tour was incredibly positive as they found the site not only informative in terms of tour logistics and training tips, but the pre launch posts gave a good insight into the participants and their stories leading up to the event.

And to show our support for the event Element78 fielded a team of 7 riders who cycled from Taunton to Reading and raised over £1,300 in doing so.
